How to translate a PC game’s dialogue

Found a great game with no dubbing in your language? With Langless and a virtual audio cable, the game’s sound goes into the translation and you hear the dialogue and story in your language, in real time, in your headphones. This guide shows the setup on Windows, how to keep the game’s music and effects, and the limits.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Open the game. On Windows, in Settings › System › Sound › Volume mixer, send the output of the game only to the cable (CABLE Input). The rest of the computer keeps playing in your headphones.
  2. In the app, set the game’s language as "Other language".
  3. In Listen, pick Microphone, with the cable as the input (CABLE Output), and the Continuous style (the app remembers the last style used).
  4. Leave Langless’s output on your headphones, not on the cable: otherwise the translation loops back into the input.
  5. With the game playing sound, tap "🎧 Test capture": the meter should move. If it stays still, close the game and open it again — some games only use the new output after being reopened.
  6. Check the target button: it should show "🌐 Translates to" your language. If it shows the game’s, tap it to switch.
  7. Press ▶ and play.

Keep the game’s music and effects

With the game on the cable, you hear only the translation. To also hear the game’s soundtrack underneath, turn on "Keep the background track (music/effects)" before pressing ▶ and adjust the original volume. The original dialogue comes back too, quieter, under the translated voice.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still hear the game’s sound?

Only if you want to. Without the mix, you hear only the translation; with "Keep the background track (music/effects)" turned on before ▶, the music and effects play underneath.

Does it work with games from Steam, Epic and other stores?

Yes. What matters is that the game shows up in the Windows Volume mixer; the store it came from doesn’t change the setup.

Does it work on a phone or a console?

No. The setup needs the computer, where the virtual cable carries the game’s sound to Langless.

Is my voice translated too?

Not with this setup: Langless listens only to the cable, which carries the game’s sound.
